Become an ISTAR
The Illinois Student Admissions Representative (ISTAR) position is designed to support the needs of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and their visit programs by welcoming prospective students and their guests to the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

ISTAR should be knowledgeable about the university and passionate about showcasing it to prospective students. ISTAR attend paid training sessions to help prepare them to be representatives for the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
ISTAR will assist with the on campus visit programs for individuals and groups from late August through Early December. ISTAR will have the opportunity to continue employment through the Spring semester, dependent on performance review.
- Provide a positive, welcoming experience to prospective students and their guests at program check-ins, office visits, presentations, or phone conversations
- Offer proactive and meaningful client service to program attendees
- Serve on student panels, providing insight about the Illinois Experience
- Lead prospective students and their guests on campus tours, highlighting key parts of the Illinois Experience
- Answer and respond to questions regarding undergraduate admissions and visits, transferring to appropriate staff as needed
- Operate the front desk at the Office of Admissions and Records
- Attend training sessions and monthly all-staff meetings
- Perform other duties as assigned

ISTARs must meet the following criteria:
- Current University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign undergraduate student in good academic standing
- Able to work as an ISTAR for 5-15 hours a week during employment dates
- Fall: August 24–December 10
- Attend and participate in ISTAR Training Sessions
- Ability to move long distances for a designated amount of time
- Ability to lift objects up to 20 pounds.

Become a Visit Leader
The Summer Visits Leader (VL) position is designed to support the needs of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and their visit programs by welcoming prospective students and their guests to the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

VLs should be knowledgeable about the university and passionate about showcasing it to prospective students. VLs attend paid training sessions to help prepare them to be representatives for the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
VLs contribute to the mission of Undergraduate Admissions through evaluative work with the ability to develop and implement change. Throughout the summer, VLs will work on small group or independent projects analyzing admissions visit experiences and will offer proposals during a presentation to Undergraduate Admissions leadership. Proposals will be reviewed, accepted, and implemented by both the VL team and leadership.
VLs will assist with the on campus visit programs for individuals and groups from late May through August. VLs will have the opportunity to continue employment through the Fall semester, dependent on performance review.
- Serve on a project team, performing program evaluations in areas such as tour routes, presentation scripts, visit format and other admissions-related topics
- Develop and present capstone presentation of program assessment
- Assist with the implement of program change proposals
- Provide a positive, welcoming experience to prospective students and their guests at program check-ins, office visits, presentations or phone conversations
- Offer proactive and meaningful client service to program attendees
- Serve on student panels, providing insight about the Illinois Experience
- Lead prospective students and their guests on campus tours and presentations, highlighting key parts of the Illinois Experience

Visits Leaders (VLs) must meet the following criteria:
- Current University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign undergraduate student in good academic standing
- Able to work as an Visits Leader for 30-40 hours a week during employment dates (May 18–August 14)
- Attend and participate in VL Training Sessions
- Ability to move long distances for a designated amount of time
- Ability to lift objects up to 20 pounds
