Ebertfest is CU’s most well-known festival. Hosted by Roger Ebert, American film critic, screenwriter, and Illinois alumnus, Ebertfest: Roger Ebert’s Film Festival is an annual weekend long festival of movie screenings and panel discussions. The festival attracts thousands of viewers each year.
The Boneyard Arts Festival is an annual event that displays the artistic talent CU has to offer. Both indoors and outdoors, the venues range from music halls to ice cream shops and showcase everything from music and dance performances to paintings, steel sculpture, photographs, and graphic design.
A weekend event held every summer, the Taste of Champaign is a great way to spend a weekend sampling local food and browsing artisan crafts while listening to live music on the edge of downtown Champaign.
One of the best ways to get to know the local music scene is by checking out the Pygmalion Music Festival. Held in multiple locations all around downtown Champaign and Urbana, Pygmalion is a music event that showcases live music for the entire CU community.
There’s nothing quite like a classic county fair, and that’s what you’ll get every summer at the Champaign County Fair. From the demolition derby to the cotton candy, you’ll get to experience a traditional Central Illinois event.
