Partial Scholarship Listing: College of Liberal Arts and Sciences

Theodore and Audrey Brown Scholarships

Requirements: Highly qualified first-year students; based on both merit and financial need
Amount: $2,500
Renewable: Yes – for the sophomore year, provided the student maintains the required GPA and continues in the college
Number: Four

Clarence and Pauline Memorial Scholarships

Requirements: Highly qualified incoming freshmen admitted to one of the humanities departments or programs in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
Amount: Provide intellectual and financial support ($1,000) together with special academic opportunities for a small group of highly qualified first-year students; Cohn Scholars enroll in a two-semester course sequence offered by the Department of Comparative and World Literature, with special discussion sections. Each Cohn Scholar may also participate in a yearlong independent study course with a faculty mentor from one of the humanities disciplines.

Note: Candidates for the program are selected by a faculty committee.

Robert W. Rogers Scholarships

Requirements: Highly qualified first-year students majoring in math or science with exceptional scholastic achievement, high performance on either the ACT or SAT examination, and evidence of leadership in the school or community
Amount: $1,000
Renewable: Yes – for the sophomore year, provided the student maintains at least a 3.5 GPA and continues in the college
Number: Eight - ten

Note: A faculty committee selects Rogers Scholars.

Margaret Dekany Scholarship

Requirements: A first-year student enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences with exceptional scholastic achievement
Amount: $1,000
Renewable: No
Number: One - two

Note: A faculty committee selects Dekany Scholars.

FMC Award of Excellence

Requirements: First-year students enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences with exceptional scholastic achievement
Amount: $1,000
Renewable: No
Number: Five

Note: A faculty committee selects FMC Scholars.
