One-on-One
What are your favorite places to study, hang out, and relax?
Illinois has some great libraries on campus. I like the undergraduate library and Grainger library. The Undergraduate library has a great group-work environment and a lot of resources. Grainger has the best quiet areas and studying atmosphere.
What clubs or organizations on campus are you involved with?
I am involved in the College of Business’ Business Council, which is directly affiliated wit the college. It provides its members with a plethora of resources and experiences but also gives back and serves the college and other business students.
Why and how did you choose your major?
I decided to major in accountancy because I have always taken an interest in business. Like many freshmen, I did not know what type of business. As time passed, I came to understand that accountancy is the basis of business fundamentals, which I feel will best prepare me to continue into the real work world.
Describe your most memorable experience at Illinois.
I remember taking my first placement exam at Foellinger Auditorium. I was really impressed by its size and grand architecture. After taking my seat, I had one of those TV/ movie moments and thought, “Wow, I’m really in college.”
What is your advice to prospective students?
Take chances. Jump in the deep end, take some risks, and do it all with confidence. There are so many opportunities here, so you should take advantage of everything you can. Approach everything with a positive attitude and an open mind and there’s nothing that can stop you.
