Year: Junior
Major: Music Education
College: Fine and Applied Arts (FAA)

One-on-One

What are your favorite places to study, hang out, and relax?
I enjoy studying in the chapter room of my fraternity house and on the couch in my apartment. To relax, I go to CRCE to run or sit in the hot tub.

What clubs or organizations on campus are you involved with?
I’m involved with MENC - National Association for Music Education and the National Band Association, which are professional organizations that provide music education majors with supplemental experiences that will help them in their career. I’m also a member of Alpha Kappa Lambda Fraternity, which is a part of the Interfraternity Council. And I also play with the Marching Illini, the nation’s premiere college marching band.

Why and how did you choose your major?
My story is really simple. I was always interested in music and could not see my life without it.

Describe your most memorable experience at Illinois.
In January 2008, I got to play at the Rose Bowl with the Marching Illini. I’ll never forget that experience. We were a part of Illinois history.

What is your advice to prospective students?
Find balance. Study hard, follow your heart, and enjoy life because life, especially your college years, moves so quickly.
