Year: Sophomore
Major: Broadcast Journalism
College: Media

One-on-One

What are your favorite places to study, hang out, and relax?
My favorite place to study and hang out is Garner Hall where I live. My residence hall has study areas, such as a library, computer lab, lounges on each floor, and conference rooms in the basement, which really makes it easy to study late into the night.

What clubs or organizations on campus are you involved with?
The Peer Recruitment Program allows students to share their experience with high school students that have an interest in college. MAAT is a registered student organization which is a part of the Black Student Union. The goal of this organization is to interact and provide resources for students of color. And I also participate in Unexxxposed Dance Team.

Why and how did you choose your major?
At first, I was a media studies major but I decided to study broadcast journalism because I knew that my strongest qualities include communication, writing, and leadership.

Describe your most memorable experience at Illinois.
My most memorable experience would have to be when I was hired as a resident advisor. It’s been a great way for me to meet and interact with diverse people. I love my job.

What is your advice to prospective students?
Don't get overwhelmed. College may seem like a daunting step, but it’ll be a great experience. No matter where you decide to go, just enjoy it and know that you have the complete control over your life starting now. So drive wherever you want to go.
